- Electricity rates: U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) state averages, updated annually
- SEER efficiency math: ACCA (Air Conditioning Contractors of America) Manual J methodology
- Refrigerant prices: HVAC equipment distributor pricing sheets and published wholesale market data
- Labor indexes: Bureau of Labor Statistics construction wage data by metro area
Accuracy Commitment
Our estimates are designed to be accurate within 15-25% of actual contractor quotes for most scenarios. We update pricing data annually and review formulas whenever major market changes occur (such as refrigerant phaseouts).
